Schools almost out! Only 17 more days! Looking forward to a summer filled with barrel racing. On April 21st and 22nd we went to Ceres. I hit barrels both days. On the April 28th my 4H club helped clean up my school. The next day we went to Lincoln and I was and 18.2 and got $360. The next Saturday we went to Woodland for the Cinco DeMayo race, I was a 16.9, and a 16.6 won it, so didn’t place. Then on Tuesday we went to Clements and I got third. I’m also really looking forward to the Just Breathe and Race jackpot next weekend in Lincoln. Love, Samantha

The prize series at Woodland on Thursday nights for January was fun, I ended up winning 3rd overall. I got a nice blue halter that is beaded. Then Feb 3rd we went to Lincoln to the pre super bowl race, and I ran an 18.066 on Marlo and was barely out of the 2D placing. February races at Woodland are target races and they have had 45+ riders. This week end I am going to Ceres Diamond Bar arena for the sweet heart race. Also Spring gave me a beautiful necklace with an S on it, the kids at school thought it was cool.  Love, Samantha

In these past few weeks Classic Barrel Racing has put on Thursday night  races at SugarLand Horse Park in the indoor arena, and they have been super fun. So far I have been in the one, two, and three D. This weekend I went to Woodland both days. I ran both my horses Rex and Marlo. Saturday night there were 76 riders, I hit a barrel on one horse and was in the 3D on the other.  Sunday I was clean, in the 1D and 3D   Next month she is putting on target races there every Thursday night at Woodland.   Next month I am going to the pre super bowl race in Lincoln Feb 3rd. Then to Ceres for the Sweet Heart race Feb 10 & 11. Thank you Spring and Classic Barrel Racing for sponsoring me and putting on all these wonderful races.  Love, Samantha  Dewhurst

When Spring told me I would be the next sponsored youth for Classic Barrel Racing, on Sunday Jan 31, in Ceres, I was just thrilled. Later that day when I ran my mare Marlo, and the announcer said my time, I was shocked and happy. I moved to the lead, and it held until the end. It was good enough to win the youth class too. That was the first big race I had ever won! I am just so thankful to Classic Barrel Racing for having so many wonderful races and usually having a youth class. Thursday, Jan 4th we went to Woodland for the January Thursday Night Prize Series and I ran my horse Rex and placed 2nd in the 2D. I look forward to the races on Jan 20 & 21 at Sugarland Horse Park.  ~Love, Samantha

My name is Samantha Dewhurst and I live in Clements California.  I live with my parents and older brother, Jesse. We have 5 horses, cows, dogs, cats, a bird and a bunny.  I am 12 yrs old and attend Oak View  School in Acampo.   I have been riding since I was 2 yrs old, starting off riding in the peewee class.  I started competing in the youth division at 9 yrs old on our horse named Rex.  I won my first open race ever on him last year and ended up 4th in the 1D in the 12 and under division at the Sheri Cervi Race in Ceres.  Recently I started running our horse named Marlo. My hobbies are barrel racing, pole bending, and showing my bunny in 4H. I am so thankful for the Classic Barrel Racing youth sponsor program, and am excited to represent them. ~Love, Samantha
